Poly Maleic Acid (PMA) is a low molecular weight polymer widely used as a high-performance scale inhibitor chemical. It has excellent thermal stability and water solubility with molecular weight in the range of 800–1000. It is non-toxic and highly effective in high temperature water systems.
PMA is widely used in industrial water treatment applications such as boiler water treatment, cooling water systems, desalination plants, oilfield water systems, and industrial circulation systems. It provides excellent protection against carbonate and phosphate scale formation even at high temperature conditions.
Due to its superior performance, Poly Maleic Acid (PMA) is widely preferred in desalination plants, steam systems, crude oil processing, and petroleum pipelines. It also shows excellent corrosion inhibition when used with zinc salts.
